A fantastic memorial and free museum. The San Jacinto Battlefield is also well maintained with lots to learn here. Great place to spend the day. Bring a picnic to enjoy. Awesome photo opportunities. Watch the birds in the area.
There is also a souvenir shop.
With the lights I am thinking night time pictures of this place will be great too.
This is a must see after going to the Alamo!
Visiting this place was a great experience. The stuff exposed in the museum are very interesting. You can learn a lot about Texas history. Going up to the "lookout" is a good experience too, you can see the ships, the fields, etc. We went on Sunday and Fortunately it was not too crowded. if you are going to visit this place, don't forget to go with about 1-2 hours if you are that kind of person that like to read everything, because the museum closes at 6pm no matter what.
Visiting the SJ Monument was awesome! Lots of cool things to see in the museum and learn about. I went on a Sunday wasn't crowded at all and no line to take the elevator up. Was a great experience :)
You can also see the battleship Texas from here.
This is an excellent collection of pertinent milestones in Texas history, tastefully done and incorporating a great diversity of artifacts to generate the feel of the early Texas reality... well worth your time as was the adjacent USS TEXAS.
I love history. The monument museum is great. Many stories and artifacts.
